nature / culture

When you’re trying to make something, that’s culture.

Let the materials be precisely what they are, when you let them flow splatter merge resist soak degrade as they will, and that’s nature.

Trying to make using nature’s material behavior as one component? That’s the game.

When you enter making with a general idea of what you want to make and an openness to nature messing with and even obliterating your plans, that’s life.

You intentionally or otherwise used materials that didn’t pass the test of time, and now they’re cracking, flaking, fading, or you used resilient materials but you’ve intentionally applied corrosive treatments to give the effect of aging. In either case, that’s death.
