living abstraction

You’ve worked a piece a few days, things going on but none dominant, it’s inadvertently like you’ve set up a stage. And then you realize it, and you in one dominant fluid gesture create the lead actor.

It’s like all the stage, all the world, was waiting for that mark to arrive. Now that he’s there, the entire performance runs, complete and, in its own way, perfect.

This performance will run for years. It’ll run for centuries, if it’s cared for. All the players are there, doing their jobs, never resting. And there’s the lead, always playing her role, never pausing to take a bow.

And how are all these elements not living beings?
