I actively avoid making an artwork that is “just another one of those things I make.”

I will make work that is self-training, and pieces that are essentially trying something out.

I will sometimes iterate a short series.

Otherwise, in any other artwork I require a specialness, a reason for the thing to exist on its own, independent of what I’ve done before or will do after. The piece must justify itself or it’s not finished.
